The Nature Health Global Board is delighted to announce an unexpected $25,000 gift from an anonymous donor. The unrestricted gift is a 1:1 match Challenge Fund. This means that for every donation of $100 and above, our donor will match your donation, doubling its impact, until we reach the $25,000 cap.

The anonymous donor is a long-term supporter of conservation and health organizations and is particularly interested in NHG’s programs to prevent pandemics and to map emerging disease hotspots in our oceans.

In their communication with NHG, the donor wrote: “I am honored to be one of the early supporters of the work that Nature.Health.Global. will be doing to rebalance our relationship with nature. I have long followed the work of NHG’s President Dr. Peter Daszak who has led the world in our scientific understanding of what causes pandemics and how we can prevent them. I admire your courage in the face of political anti-science activism intent on undermining public health and conservation.”

The donor added: “While others have folded when political forces threaten their funding, NHG is standing strong, with integrity, and fighting back for the good of ourselves and our planet. I decided to create a challenge fund so that my gift to NHG will have a bigger impact by encouraging everyone who cares about our planet, our wildlife, and our own health to donate and match. The Board of NHG released the following statement: “We are extremely grateful to our donor for this unique opportunity to double the impact of the donations we receive. Nature Health Global’s mission strengthens our protection against pandemics by dealing with their underlying causes – deforestation, climate change, the trade in wildlife, and overexploitation of our oceans. By its very nature, our work has combined impacts on our health, on conservation, and on the welfare benefits we get from nature. By donating to this challenge fund, our supporters can amplify their impact, with every dollar they donate being matched dollar-for-dollar by our generous donor.
